Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK) has been selected by Cleco, for modernizing its microwave communications network, in order to support the approximately 290,000 customers, to them the Cleco serves through its retail business, and those it supplies the wholesale power to customers in Mississippi and Louisiana.
New proposed network is based on Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK)’s microwave packet, the radio technology and the new Microwave Packet Transceiver Plus (MPT-HLC Plus) by Nokia designed to deliver more reliability and performance, which is required to support the Cleco’s expanding capacity needs, while the scalability and flexibility of it, to enable to introduce new services in future.
The Finnish company Nokia Oyj (NYSE:NOK) was actually selected to provide backhaul of Cleco’s digital mobile radio system, which is critical to the safety of its customers and for employees who are more than 1,300. Cleco is also able to increase the operational efficiency, by moving to an all packet based architecture.
